The Type I plug consists of three pins arnaged in a triangle with the lowest most vertical pin acting as the ground.
It is commonly used in:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Papua New Guinea
- China
Variations of the ‘Type I’ outlet exist rated to higher ampages such as 15A which featurer a wider lower ground pin. Regular 10A plugs can be plugged into 15A outlets, however 15A plugs cannot be plugged into the lower rated 10A outlet.
Some appliances which do not require, the plug may only have the 2 upper angled pins.
In almost all cases Type I outlets will develier 220-240v
