Power in Greenland

Greenland, the world's largest island located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, relies on a mix of renewable and fossil fuel-based energy sources. Greenland uses Type C, Type E, Type F and Type K power plugs. The standard voltage is 230 V and the supply frequency is 50 Hz. Hydroelectric power is the dominant renewable energy source, contributing significantly to its power generation. However, diesel generators are also widely used, particularly in remote areas where hydro infrastructure is not feasible. While the power infrastructure is generally reliable, challenges such as harsh weather conditions and logistical difficulties in remote regions can occasionally disrupt supply. Overall, Greenland is steadily working towards increasing its renewable energy capacity to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve sustainability.
