Power in Malawi
Malawi, a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, relies primarily on hydroelectric power for its energy needs. Malawi uses Type G power plugs. The standard voltage is 230 V and the supply frequency is 50 Hz. While hydroelectric power is the backbone of Malawi's energy infrastructure, diesel generators are often used as a supplementary source, especially during dry seasons when water levels are low. The reliability of the power grid is moderate, with occasional outages due to aging infrastructure and fluctuating water levels.
