What to expect in Koh Samui
Koh Samui uses the Thai standard — A, B, C and O sockets at 220 V / 50 Hz. Resort rooms usually have hybrid sockets that take most plugs, but the supply on the island can dip during storms.
Power in Thailand comes mainly from natural gas, coal, renewables. Grid reliability is described as good.
Good to know: Thai TIS 166-2549 O plug; E/F appliances are no longer sold.
What to pack for Koh Samui
- A travel adapter with Type A, Type B, Type C and Type O on the socket side.
- A step-down converter if you are bringing 110 V appliances that are not marked 100–240 V.
- A device label check: anything marked 100–240 V needs the adapter, nothing else.
